3. Hawaii Shakespeare Festival: “The Winter’s Tale”

William Shakespeare was always an ambitious writer, but in “The Winter’s Tale,” he went nuts in a good way. He took on the concept of time itself and made grand statements about the way things do and don’t change throughout history. From the play’s page, linked above:

Though less commonly known than many of Shakespeare’s earlier works, The Winter’s Tale marks what might be called the Bard’s most ambitious play in terms of the scope of its story, the variety of theatrical spectacle, and the attempt to find reconciliation and redemption in the wake of tyranny and tragedy.

Where: ARTS at Marks Garage, 1159 Nuuanu Ave., Honolulu

When: Through Sunday, August 2, with showtimes at 3:30 p.m.

Cost: $20
